Don't Be Defeated: There's Strength in The Storm

Don't Be Defeated: There's Strength in The Storm

Sometimes life can bring challenges that we did not foresee.  Personally, in my opinion, these challenges come about when it seems everything is going good in your life.  Like rain on a sunny day, out of no where the clouds form and you're wondering where did the rain come from all of sudden.  The great thing about storms, however, is that they don't last forever.

Just like storms, the challenges we face don't last forever.  Challenges in life, obstacles, they are not points of defeat. During the most difficult moments in my life, I developed growth as an individual.

Looking back on 2016, overall it was a great year.  I saw so many posts on social media regarding how terrible the year 2016 had been for others.  While I experienced challenges, those challenges did not defeat me.  In the year of 2016, I experienced growth spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.  I developed more consistency, discipline, and other positive habits that will contribute to my overall success. Honestly, I don't feel that I would have grown in those areas of my life had I not experienced some of the "storms" I experienced last year. I'm actually grateful for the challenges because with those challenges I gained wisdom and my character was strengthened.

James 1:2-5 New International Version (NIV) "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

The next time you experience a challenge, or you are presented with an obstacle, I encourage you to be mindful of your perspective.  Don't allow your challenge to defeat you.  Take on the challenge head on, learn the lesson you need to learn, and move forward.  Know that on this journey of life, God is always present...if only we seek him, and acknowledge him.  Pray and ask God to give you the strength, clarity, and the focus you need to navigate through any difficulty you may have to face. It may be difficult to press through, but not only will your character be strengthened; you will also gain more confidence in yourself and your self development.
